People communicate emotions constantly. They express their emotions, intentionally and unintentionally, through their behaviour, language, and body; perceives readily observe and interpret those expressions in others. The dynamics of this emotion communication process is key to successful social interactions. The PAVE project aims to create a PAnoramic View of Emotion communication - to look at the way the same subjective emotion is reflected to others - in direct communication, whether face to face or remote; in mass communication over social media; and in implicit behavior, which we attempt to capture using mobile sensing. Using this wide perspective we can ask - are people communicating different emotions to different people? at different times? And how does that communication - and the extent to which it is received - affect our wellbeing and relationships?
